USJ 23 Lantern & Mooncake Festival Celebration

The above event was successfully held on 29/09/01 in the vicinity of USJ23. A word of special thanks to the Organising Chairman, Patrick Novel and his committee members namely Nge Kwang Tean, Loi Sai Aik, Robert Chan, Eddie Shak and Yee Foon Kong, and not forgetting Mr.& Mrs. KK Chua, for the use of their premises for this event.

  • As from 23/08/2001 we have our very own domain: http://www.usj23.com .Our new e-mail address is : committee@usj23.com. We have three new changes to our website i.e. 1.1) Products & Services (only for USJ 23 residents), and 1.2)Non-Residents .Please contact Robert Chan or Yee Foon Kong for more information.

  • By courtesy and with the approval of Oxnard Police Department, California, USA we are able to feature an article on crime preventive measures. Thanks to Senior Officer Ken Klopman. We highly recommend that you read these articles for your own safety.

  • We have launched USJ 23 Residents Forum, our on-line discussion forum

 Paper Lama, Old Newspaper Recycle Program

  • This activity was held on 12th.August 2001, and was very well supported by USJ 23 residents. A total of 37 generous residents participated, and thanks to all for their support. As for other residents we look forward to your participation in the next collection cycle. Also a word of special thanks to all the USJ 23 children for the assistance to help the vendor to collect the old newspapers.

 
 

 
     
 

July 2001

  • USJ 23 Website (http://usj23.tripod.com) - Starting in mid-July, we are testing our new feature for our website i.e. Products & Services Directory .This page is basically for HELP & CONVENIENCE, and for networking amongst USJ 23 residents. So ladies & gentlemen, if you have any product or service, which you would like to share or offer for sale to our neighbours, please contact Robert Chan or Yee Foon Kong. It is FREE of charge, and we will be most happy to be of any help or answer any queries if you have any. It is for YOU to make it HAPPEN!!
     

  • Paper Lama, Old Newspaper Recycle Program - Following encouraging feedback from residents, our 1st.collection of old newspaper will be held on 12th August 2001 ( Sunday). Venue for collection : Next to USJ 23 guard house ,from 5.00 to 6.00 pm. The money collected will eventually be kept as USJ 23 Charity Fund, and later donated for worthy cause i.e. old folks home, orphanage home, etc. We look forward to all of you on that day. Subsequently we will continue to collect old newspapers the 2nd.Sunday of each month, same time, same venue. Thank you.

 
 

 
     
 

June 2001

  • USJ 23 Website and New E-mail address: Effective 16/06/2001 USJ 23 Neighbourhood Website took on a new improved version look, with our website : http://usj23.tripod.com , as well a change in our e-mail address to : usj23@excite.com.
    This website belongs to all residents residing in USJ 23.The feedback from residents, contacts and friends have being indeed very positive. To keep something good going, our message is "Ask what you can do for USJ 23 website, and Not What it Can do for You" sounds familiar. We need contributions, suggestions, etc. Complacency is a great enemy.

  • Noise & Dust Pollution - Quarry, located opposite USJ 23,26, & 27: On 06/06/2001, 3 of USJ 23 residents, namely Lee Chiow Nea, Samsad A.Khan and Mohd. Redzwan Yahya met up with Pejabat Tanah officials and managed to convince them that they will need to liaise with DOE to do random test on the dust pollution level and will monitor the situation.

 
 

 
     
 

May 2001

  • On 11/05/2001 Robert Chan, Annie Chan, Lee Chiow Nea, Patrick Novel and Yee Foon Kong, met Tan Sri Nijhar (MP –Subang) to receive the RM 1,000.00 fund contribution to USJ 23 residents.

  • USJ 23 E-mailing list: As at 20/05/2001 we have 65 residents listed. Our USJ 23 e-mail address: usj23@excite.com Thanks to the excellent efforts and initiative of Robert Chan to make things happen.

  • USJ 23 Neighbourhood Website:

Since early May 2001, we have started our very own website: usj23.tripod.com

All residents are welcome to visit our website and be updated on the happenings, going on, in USJ 23. Robert Chan again have make it happen for us all - the creator of our USJ website.    Syabas.

  • Noise & Dust Pollution - Quarry, located opposite USJ 23, 26 & 27:
    On 18/05/2001, a delegation from USJ 23: YH Beh, Robert Chan, Samsad, CN Lee and Redzwan met MPSJ Timbalan Yang Dipertua, Puan Arpah on the above. Subsequently, they were directed to Pejabat Daerah / Tanah Petaling. As a result of their visit and proactive actions, the quarry is no longer operating on a 24 hour shift, but only operating from 8.30am to 6.00pm, effective 16/05/2001. Thanks to these concerned residents, and their great efforts, we are now able to live in a much lesser polluted environment.
  • As at 07/05/2001 we have 90 members in our Night watch list
  • As at 07/05/2001, we have 103 households contributing to the security services.

April 2001

  • Zoning of USJ 23 with the kampong opposite us, was briefed by Datuk Lee Hwa Beng, however since then there was no further development.
  • USJ Residents Association: At this present moment in time, the committee sees no need to get involve with this association.
  • Break-ins along USJ 23/5A and USJ 23/5B
    On 01/04/2001, it was reported 2 cases of break-ins, along USJ 25/5A from 7.30 pm to 8 .30 pm. At the same time residents along USJ 23/5A and USJ 23/5B reported 2 cases of attempted break-ins. For all the cases, the burglars came in by removing the roof tiles at the back room of these houses.

In view of these rampant break-in cases, the residents living along USJ 23/5 to USJ 23/5C have requested that the barrier, located along USJ 23/5A will be CLOSED PERMANENTLY, taking effect 06/05/2001.

  • On 04/04/2001 AP Lyon, Loi Sai Aik, Yee Foon Kong, Robert Chan, Beh Yong Hock, Lee Chiow Nea approached households from USJ 23/5 to USJ 23/ 5C and managed to get almost all of them to agree to contribute to the erecting of backlane iron grille. Therefore with this, the whole of USJ 23 neighbourhood’s back lanes are protected with iron grilles.

  • On 07/04/2001 a 2nd USJ 23 Neighbourhood Watch Survey was send out to confirm residents’ participation for Night Watch duty. More than 80 residents returned the Survey Forms confirming their full support for the N/W and the N/W Committee.

 
 

 
     
 

March 2001

  • On 2/03/2001 at about 11.00 am, 2 vans parked along USJ 23/5B had its windscreen smashed by a mentally disturbed man. Upon requests from residents, living in USJ 23/5 to USJ 23/5C, wanting tighter security, it was decided by the USJ 23 Residents committee to have the barrier, located along USJ 23/5A to be closed from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
  • By March 2001, we have 87 listed members doing their Night Watch duty.
  • For security services monthly contribution, we have 100 households participation, out of 112 occupied houses.
  • On 8/03/2001 Night Watch members sighted a “broken down” car in our vicinity, which later sped off. Upon a further check, it was discovered that 2 guards of the trumpet interchange construction co. were beaten and tied up by the hijackers, who stole one the dumpster trucks.

  • The USJ 23 Residents – 1st.Get Together
    (Theme: Know Your Neighbours)
    on 24/02/2001 was very successfully organized, with very strong participation from residents. It was graced by Datuk Lee Hwa Beng (ADUN
    - Subang Jaya) and the Chief Inspector of Police-Shah Alam, Encik Rashid. Datuk Lee donated a Security watchman clock and a fax machine to USJ 23 residents, he also promised that the Children’s Playground would be upgraded for RM50,000.00 by MPSJ.

  January 2001
  • Back Lane Iron Grille was erected for USJ 23/3, USJ 23/3A, USJ 23/3B and USJ 23/3C. Thanks to the excellent efforts of Khor Siek Choon, Beh Yong Hock, Robert Chan and Patrick Novel for making it happen.
  • On 26/01/2001 at about 11.15 pm a suspicious person was sighted at the backlane of USJ 23/3 by one resident, however upon checking the person was Missing?
 
 

 
 

So all residents and friends, you can see that a lot of things are happening within USJ 23, we appeal to all residents to have a better understanding of the rationale for tighter security in our Taman. Thank you.
