December 2000
- On 15/12/2000 at about 2.30am
3 N/W members, sighted 3 suspicious characters on 2 motorcycles in our
neighbourhood. When approached by our N/W members, they sped off towards the
highway.

November 2000
- On 17/11/2000 at about
2.48 am, there was a report of an attempted break-in along USJ 23/3B. When 2
Night Watch members approached the highly suspicious character, he sped off
towards the highway.

October
2000
- 2 Security
Guards (TSS Security (M) Sdn. Bhd.)
were engaged by
USJ 23 residents
to provide security from 5.00 am to 5.00 pm effective 01/10/2000, with the
Night Watch from 2.00 am to 5.00 am still going on – the purpose was to
continue to create bondage amongst residents. 84 households agreed to
contribute to the security services. A guardhouse and barriers were
purchased and constructed.

September 2000
- USJ 23 Neighbourhood News Brief
started it’s 1st Edition.
- 3rd week of
month, 3 residents along USJ 23/3A reported that their houses were broken
into during the day.
Subsequent to
this, an emergency meeting was called, and attended by more
than 50 concerned residents. The conclusion was that we should engage security
guards to provide security for our vicinity.

August
2000
- By now we have 62 listed N/W members, with
3 members per night performing their Night Watch duty.
- N/W members were offered a
USJ 23 N/W Signage,
for easy identification.
- A USJ
23 N/W road hoarding, sponsored by Sanroc (M) Sdn. Bhd. was erected within our housing
locality.
- A USJ
Community Services was initiated for the convenience of residents,
however it was stopped, due
to none or poor response from residents.
- AP Lyon through his own initiative
contacted TNB to get them to light up the main road entrance streetlights,
as we drive into USJ 23.
- A USJ
23 Neighbourhood Watch Survey was conducted to gauge
residents’ feedback and to establish a USJ 23
Residents database. 42 residents responded.
- On 15/08/2000 burglars
broke into a house, located at USJ 23/3 and RM 3,000 cash was reported
stolen during the day.
- On 21/8/2000 during
the early morning, a mountain bike, worth RM 1,000.00 was stolen from a
house, along USJ 23/5.It happened at about 6.00 am to 7.00 am.

July 2000
- 3 strangers were sighted in USJ 23, along USJ
23/5B between 3.00 am and 4.00 am
- A young lady was robbed at knifepoint, along
USJ 23/3B, as she was getting out of her car to get into her house on
01/06/2000, between 12.00 am to 12.30 am.
- On 28/07/2000 at about 5.30 am, 5 Indonesians
broke into a house, located at USJ 24, whilst the occupants were in. Image
the horrid experience the family went through.
- On 30/7/2000
the previous N/W Committee was dissolved
and a new committee was
elected in: -

March 2000
- By March 2000, USJ 23 N/W had enlisted 37 members doing
Night Watch duty, with 2 to 3 members per night.

So
all residents and friends, you can see that a lot of things are happening within
USJ 23, we appeal to all residents to have a better understanding of the
rationale for tighter security in our Taman. Thank you.
