Planet Free - USJ 23 Neighbourhood

Directional Signs
USJ23 Neighbourhood

It is now more than 1 (one) year since LITRAK removed the Directional Signs leading into USJ23 - USJ27 maybe it's time for the new MP and ADUN to look into this problem

The Whole USJ Community is watching
LINGKARAN TRANS KOTA SDN BHD

Litrak - the operator of Lebuh Raya Damansara Puchong

23/04/2004 - It is more than a year since the directional signboards along LDP were removed by Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak), we have tried almost everything to convince them to reinstall the signboards but to no avail.

This problem will be highlighted to the New MP and ADUN hopefully they will be in a position to assist us in our quest.

The irony of the whole thing is that MPSJ and Sime UEP are
helping us put up Neighbourhood and Directional signboards

The Whole USJ Community is watching
LINGKARAN TRANS KOTA SDN BHD

Litrak - the operator of Lebuh Raya Damansara Puchong
is taking them down!!,
an act of total disregard for the welfare of Residents of USJ23 - USJ27

29/05/2003 - As reported, the 2 most important directional signboards along the LDP were removed in early April 2003. We were aware that Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak) were responsible for it's removal, however instead of making a fuss, we decided on a diplomatic approach.

We brought our problem to our ADUN YB Dato' Lee Hwa Beng and also MPSJ to seek their assistance, however it is now almost 2 months since the removal of the directional signboards and we have yet to see any solution.

Our contact with Litrak's Public Relations Department have resulted in their ludicrous request that we take back our directional signs. It is so preposterous for them to think that Residents in USJ23-USJ27 were responsible for placing the signboards along the LDP in the first place.

We send an email to Jimi Cheng - General Manager of Litrak, highlighting the incidents that took place on the
04/10/2002 when a corner house burnt down in USJ27 and
07/01/2003 when a motorcyclist was killed instantly in an accident near USJ26 and the pillion rider was seriously injured,
the significance being that each resulted in suffering that was linked directly to emergency services being unable to locate our neighbourhoods. Read the email that we sent to him.

Who is going to be held responsible should an incident similar to the ones that have been highlighted occurs again, this time with the lost of innocent lives? One should remember that the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan USJ23 Subang Jaya is also located in our area

We have seen this time and time again in the news, most bureaucrats only react when tragedy strikes or when it is too late, it is really such a pity that they have such an attitude.
We must always hope against hope, who knows, maybe this time around it will be different.

24/05/2003 - Wow! In the past 1 week we have seen so many road signs put up along Jalan Harmoni going toward Putra Heights, it's like a dream come true (see pictures below). There is even one as you come from Putra Heights (picture not included) and one before the turn into USJ23.

It was most considerate of Sime UEP to finally put up the long awaited road signs, which they promised back in November 2002

On behalf of residents of USJ23, USJ24, USJ26 and USJ27
we would like to say a Big THANK YOU to
Sime UEP Properties Sdn Bhd

11/05/2003 - We awake to find that MPSJ had installed a new Neighbourhood signboard along USJ23/3 facing the LDP. This signboard was request by JKP Zon3 Committee Members and  MPSJ Councillor Mr Yap Yun Fatt when they met with Puan Umi Kalthom Ahmad at MPSJ back in January 2003.

We should like to thank JKP Zon3, MPSJ Councillor Mr Yap and Puan Umi for their kind assistance in erecting this signboard.

We thank MPSJ for putting up the Neighbourhood signboard

14/04/2003 - 2 of the most important out the the total of 6 directional signs that were put up at the beginning of February 2003 have been forcibly removed.

After 3 years and such a long battle, we are back to having no directional signs again.

05/02/2003 - With the help of JKP Zon3 Committee Members, our MPSJ Councillor Mr Yap Yun Fatt and Puan Umi Kalthom Ahmad of MPSJ we finally have 6 directional signs for USJ23 to USJ27 erected at various locations. This time around they have been placed strategically and not behind some lamp post as before.

We thank MPSJ for putting up the Directional signboards

We now await Sime UEP's promise back in November 2002 to put up additional signs.

09/01/2003 - Since the fatal accident, we hasten to write to MPSJ to get them to clarify the purpose of allowing the placement of a misleading Landmark sign at the USJ23 Trumpet Flyover that is more than 5 kilometers away from the actual site.

Read the letter we sent to them

07/01/2003 - A fatal accident took place at the junction of USJ26 leading into Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan USJ23 at around 9.30pm. A motorcyclist lost control of his machine and together with his pillion slammed into a lamp post, he died instantly. The female pillion rider was seriously injured.

Two ambulances arrived approximate 1 & 1½ hour respectively, both the drivers mentioned that there were no road signs to indicate where USJ26 or USJ27 was.

Read the article about the fatal accident here

19/12/2002 - Instead of putting up proper signage to indicate USJ23-27, Sime UEP, also the developers of Putra Heights, puts up a Large Landmark signage indicating Putra Heights right at the base of the USJ23 Trumpet Flyover. New visitors to this area would easily think that USJ23-27 is in Putra Heights, when in fact Putra Heights is almost 5 kilometers away, over the hill.

This is gross misrepresentation and it seems that Sime UEP as developers have once again taken liberties.

Click on the picture to view the high resolution map
  Area Map of USJ23, USJ24, USJ26 and USJ27

If you examine the map carefully you will notice that the present Landmark sign has indeed been placed very far away from where Putra Heights actually is.

Putra Heights starts across the KLIA Highway and then behind the hill to boot. You would probably not even know that it existed if you did not look hard enough, but is that a concern of ours?

Where do you think Sime UEP should be erecting the Landmark sign?

USJ23 Trumpet Flyover   Putra Heights Landmark Sign   Directional Sign + Landmark Sign   The USJ23 Community

Putra Heights Landmark Sign Directional Sign to Putra Heights The USJ23 Community

So why has Sime UEP put up such a sign so far away? Could it be that Putra Heights is just too far away and they need a gateway from a more lucrative and developed area to connect the two (USJ and Putra Heights)? Is this a progressive step to renaming USJ23-27 as Putra Heights?

If it is, they are taking the easy way out at our expense, just as they did with the Puchong Quarry, just as they did with not providing a U-Turn at the base of the trumpet flyover, all these things have been done to cut cost and enrich their own coffers.

Will they once again use their corporate might to bully us into submission?

As Residents of USJ23-27 is this acceptable to you?

Read what our Residents have to say about this at our Forum

01/12/2002 - We wakeup to find that Neighbourhood signboards indicating USJ23, 24, 26 & 27 had been erected by MPSJ during the night. If it was meant to be a surprise, it was truly that. Most residents were not even aware of their existence, until late in the afternoon, as it was a Sunday and everyone stayed in late.

  USJ23 Neighbourhood Signboard   USJ24 Neighbourhood Signboard   USJ26 & USJ27 Neighbourhood Signboard

We thank MPSJ for putting up the Neighbourhood signboards

It is now left to Sime UEP Properties Sdn Bhd to complete the job by putting up the proper Directional signs as soon as possible.

21/11/2002 - Our Chairman receives a telephone call from Mr Chew Cheng Teck of Sime UEP Properties Sdn Bhd informing us that the directional signboard can only be installed in 1 or 2 months when the request for such additional work is approved by the management.

It looks like we have to continue to wait

14/11/2002 - We write to Sime UEP Properties Sdn Bhd to confirm a conversation between our Chairman, Mr Beh Yong Hock and Mr Chew Cheng Teck on 04/11/2002 in which it was promised that their consultant would be engaged to erect directional sign boards leading to USJ23, 24, 26, & 27. Read the letter here

So are we finally going to have some proper road signs?

28/10/2002 - You may have noticed that they have put back the Putra Heights directional signboards at the trumpet flyover leading into USJ23, the very same signs that were removed a few months back.

Are the residents of USJ23, USJ24, USJ26 & USJ27 suppose to thank someone for it?

17/10/2002 - The last we sent a letter to MPSJ specifically requesting for directional signs for USJ23, USJ24, USJ26 and USJ27 was back on 05/03/2002 more than 7 months ago, since nothing at all has been done, we have decided to reminded them once again.

Makes you wonder, which has more priority, planting! planting! and replanting trees or putting up the proper road signs so that emergency services know where to go when called upon.

Read our letter here

07/10/2002 - Where are the directional signs and sign boards? It will be almost 3 years since we moved into our homes in USJ23.

In all honesty, how many people know approximately where USJ23, USJ24, USJ26 and USJ27 are located in USJ? Is there a USJ25? What about USJ28?

Sometimes, gentle reminders (email and official letters) to developers and government departments go unheeded for such a long time that it borders on being ridicules.

Must we assume that action will only be taken when a mishap occurs? What a waste of our resources not to mention the injustice to rate payers.

Enough of the rhetoric, when are going to get the proper directional signs and sign boards that we deserve?

04/10/2002 - Fire guttered a corner house in USJ27, all anyone could do was watch.

The Bomba arrived almost 1 hour later, we understand that they were caught in the evening traffic but their main reason for being late was because they could not find USJ27 and went instead to Section 27 in Shah Alam.

Read the article here

16/03/2002 - MPSJ in recent days have started putting up new signboards around USJ 2, 3, 4, 6 and 11. They have done a neat job, these sign boards are big and clear and would be ideal in directing new visitors to the USJ area. The signs read:

ANDA BERADA
DI KAWASAN
PERUMAHAN

USJ 2

MAJLIS PERBANDARAN
SUBANG JAYA

All the signs were located in sections under JKP Zon 2, so when are the other sections going to get their signs. We have been asking for something like this in USJ23 for quite sometime now, when will we also have them in our "kampong". Do we need to write in for them?

  USJ 2   USJ 3 and USJ 4   USJ 4   USJ 6   USJ 6   USJ 11

05/03/2002 - We send our request to MPSJ for a road sign where the Trumpet Flyover is to indicate where USJ23, 24, 26 and 27 are. We have been without any proper road or indication signs for 2 years since our Community started. Should we not be getting one soon?

Let's see what is done when "Putra Crest" is started.

Read our email here - as indicated this email was copied to all the relevant people concerned.

12/01/2002 - Have you seen the 2 Gigantic Directional signs leading up to the trumpet flyover next to USJ23? It reads "Putra Heights"

Gigantic Sign 500m from Trumpet Flyover

Putra Heights Sign Board, what about USJ23?

Compare it to the road sign that we have for USJ23, 24, 26, 27, they even added USJ25 when it does not currently exist. (Notice how directional signs to USJ23 are always hidden behind Street Lamps.)

USJ 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 Sign Board

Look at the difference in size!

We have been living in USJ23 for more than 2 years and still we do not have prominent directional signs that indicate where we are. We now see signs indicating Putra Heights when it is hardly inhabited.

Have the road signs been put up to baffle Residents or their visitors? or are we to assume that Residents living in USJ23, 24, 25 ?, 26 and 27 will be zoned together with Putra Heights soon? When will we be informed about this?

It would be most interesting to get an insight into the minds of the Consumer and Communications people at Sime UEP Properties Berhad and also MPSJ. Come on guys live up to your responsibilities.

"Have you seen the audacity of these guys putting up such a big signboard for "Putra Heights", it's as if we do not exist, " - Lyon (USJ23 Resident)

11/01/2002 - 4 months have passed and "surprise, surprise" the directional signs that were removed and placed at the side of the road is now "lost". No one has bothered to replace it. So when do we get a proper directional sign board indicating where USJ23 is?

03/09/2001 - The directional signs are removed most probably by the people who are constructing the trumpet flyover. So we are back to having no directional sign into USJ 23.

10/07/2001 - After more than 1 1/2 years of asking, we finally have road signs indicating where USJ 23 is, Thank You very much, MPSJ, but.....................

Where are you suppose to have directional Street Signs?

Logically, where everyone can have a clear view of it. Right?

Obviously not, someone has seen it fit to hide the sign behind a lamp post.

Who approves of the payment for thoughtless work like this anyway?

You mean someone gets paid for rubbish like this?
